FARM ACTIVITIES

Tommerup's Dairy Farm has plenty of activities on offer to guests staying at our authentic 6th generation farm.

If you are a day visitor to the farm, please see our farm events & group visits pages to find out what's on offer.

MILKING

Our dairy herd is milked every morning and afternoon. We invite our guests to join our farming family at the dairy where you can try your hand at milking a cow, see how milk is stored and exactly what's involved in producing quality fresh milk in our small scale commercial dairy.

Milking happens at around 7am and 4pm daily.
Guests join us at the dairy just once daily.
(see your welcome information for details)

Animal Feeding

The menagerie of animals on Tommerup's Farm are fed daily.  Our farm is generally home to calves, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and guinea pigs.  Get your hands dirty and join Kay to feed the farm animals.

Calf & Pig Feeding

Our pigs and calves are fed on nutritious milk from our milking herd.  Squeals of delight can be heard from the pigs as the quad bike arrives laden with buckets of milk.

Tanker Day

Our milk is collected by tanker every 2nd day and delivered to the Norco milk factory for processing.  Come along and view the process as the tanker driver checks and collects our milk.
Please check when booking which activities are included in your tariff, and which incur an extra charge.
Times listed for activities are a guide only and you will be advised of actual times on arrival at our farm.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

There are many other free and paid activities available both on our farm and within the local area.
Here's just a sample of what you can experience:

FISHING

Our property has 1km of Albert River frontage for those who like a challenge or make it easier on yourself; pack a picnic and head to Darlington Park just a few minutes up the road.  Beautiful fishing spots, playground for the kids and kiosk for ice creams, snacks and coffee.

BIRD WATCHING

Always a favourite - simply relax in the environment taking in the sights and sounds of the peaceful surrounds. Whether down at the creek or lazing on the deck, you will find it easy to find your own space and hard not to sink into the serenity.  A book and movie library is available for your reading and watching pleasure.

FLYING KITES

Flying kites: Take advantage of the open spaces to enjoy flying kites.  Ask Kay & Dave to show you the best spots for this activity.

SCENIC DRIVE & BUSHWALK

“The Lost World” access to Lamington National Park is at the end of the valley (about 10 mins).

HIT THE WATER

Picnic by the river or creek, fish and explore the Albert River.

HOT AIR BALLOON

Balloon rides every day, just a fifteen minute drive from Tommerups farmstay.  What a great way to start the day on the Scenic Rim, float up and see it from a whole new perspective, there's a champagne breakfast if you wish to add it or just enjoy some free wine tasting too afterwards at Canungra Valley Vineyard. Even better, balloon rides here are excellent value, compared to rides all over Australia, so if you've always wanted to fly one day, don't wait any longer, take off with Hot Air Balloon Scenic Rim open 8am to 8pm on 1300 766 887 or instant tickets online at www.hotair.com.au

PICNIC

Picnic: There are plenty of quiet places around the farm to enjoy a picnic or just relax in the wide open spaces.

4WD

If you have your own 4WD you can venture up Duck Creek Rd 4WD track (on the right after Duck Creek Bridge) to O'Reilly’s section of Lamington with tree top suspension bridges, wild bird feeding and numerous track walks.

COOKING CLASS

Wild Lime Cooking School at Worendo Cottages – 15 minutes up the road – Savor the fusion of bush foods with menus from around the world. Prior bookings essential – Worendo Cottages on phone 07 5544 8104 or visit www.worendo.com
